University Centre

University Centre Students have more places to relax, study and get together with the addition of the University Centre. Completed in August 2009, the $33 million building is a hub for student activity-offering everything from fresh food to financial aid. The building also includes three collegia, which provide students with a quiet, homelike environment in which to study, relax and socialize. These collegia include the First Year, Upper Years, and Aboriginal Collegia. University Centre also houses a large cinema, the Health & Wellness Centre, the Writing Centre, the Math & Science Centre, and a multi-faith room.

J. Peter Meekison Student Centre

A generous gift from an anonymous donor created  the foundation for the J. Peter Meekison Student Centre at UBC’s Okanagan campus. This Centre honours UBC alumnus, Dr. Peter Meekison, the public administrator who oversaw the transformation of the former Okanagan University College into UBC’s Okanagan campus and Okanagan College. The new J. Peter Meekison Student Centre represents the fundamental reason that UBC’s Okanagan campus exists – to meet the needs of students. The Centre occupies the first floor of the new University Centre building, which features the Students’ Union offices, the Green Thread Cafe, The Well Pub, the Used Bookstore, large seating area, and many other services for students.
